"The West Oakland Hostel is the best place that any one could stay in the Bay Area without the huge price tag! In addition to being extremely centrally located from San Francisco which is a hop skip and a jump away, Jack London Square/Downtown Oakland/Chinatown, it's clean, cozy and secure, has everything you need for an enjoyable stay i.e.: fresh linens, towels, iron and fully equipped kitchen, cool people and great vibes and the hostess Traci is very sweet, accommodating and helpful. The train is less than a five minute walk and a fantastic 99cent store which has everything you need as well as high quality food and fresh produce! Take my word this is the Bay Area's best kept secret!"

My girl Mahogany Browne hosted some dope poets from the Individual World Poetry Slam here at the West Oakland Hostel. We had poets from all over the country representing. It was a great vibe, diverse talent with insightful and inspiring words. Thank you to all who were a part of the showcase and thanks to the poets that stayed at the WOH while they were in town! Kale

These are just a few shots for my garden a few days ago. I ate the kale a few different ways, 1. I steamed them and added oil oil and balsamic vinegar, 2. I ate them raw by putting them in the food processor with olive oil, yeast flakes, spike, and lemon juice. Both recipes are delicious and nutricious.

This is one of my favorite people! Robert is 81 years old and loves to garden . Here is doing landscaping for my neighbor. Robert helped me build my garden and the conversation and wisdom he shares with me is invaluable.
